Security, Passport Control & Customs
Passport Control
Passport Control
On your arrival in Malta you may be subject to passport control depending on whether you are flying in from a Schengen country or not.
Checked-In Baggage
Checked-In Baggage
For most airlines flying to Malta, the maximum weight of checked-in baggage allowed per person is typically 20 kilogrammes for economy-class passengers and 30 kilogrammes for business-class travellers.
Hand Luggage
Hand Luggage
At Malta International Airport, there is no restriction on the number of hand luggage items you can carry through security controls. The airline you are flying with is likely, however, to have its own limitations. Different airlines flying to and from Malta also have varying rules about luggage size and weight, so it’s best to get this information from your airline before departure.
Prohibited Items
Prohibited Items
Due to the highly diverse nature of items carried by passengers (some of which could constitute a threat to aviation security) it is at the discretion of the Malta Airport Security Department to confiscate any item that poses a potential threat.
Customs
Customs
If you are travelling to Malta from a non-EU country, a non-fiscal territory or an EU airport on a flight that has originated from outside of the EU, you will need to pass through the GREEN or RED channel upon arrival at Malta International Airport.
